20th Anniverary of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo
In 1986, H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover reestablished Les Ballets in memory of her late mother, H.S.H. Princess Grace. The company, especially under the guidance of director/choreographer Jean-Chrisopthe Maillot, has since extended its reach and cemented its richly deserved reputation as one of the world's premier artistic troupes. Spring and summer 2006, Les Ballets' repertoire will pay special homage to some of history's greatest writers and a collection of wonderful artistic minds in a brilliant pastiche of innovative, exhilarating productions. Further festivities include outdoor performances in the lush Casino Terrace Gardens and a fascinating "tribute-by-portrait" by Karl Lagerfeld at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco.

150th Anniversary of Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra Setting benchmarks of brilliance since its founding in 1856, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra retains its choice position in the musical world under the baton of guest conductors with names like Toscanini, Strauss, Beecham, Bernstein, Mehta and Solti. Its rich discography is a testimony to its musical diversity and many of its recordings have received well-earned acclaim and awards. Under the presidency of H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover and with the continued support of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the Princely Government, and current Music Director/Chief Conductor, Marek Janowski, the Philharmonic will celebrate its sesquicentennial in grand style.

Throughout the Principality, April 1 - 23, 2006.

Fireworks Festival
This free event attracts thousands to view some of the most beautiful and original fireworks around. The competition has been held since 1966 and brings pyrotechnic specialists from around the world to show off their talent. The competition takes place July through August with the winner returning to Monaco to create a magnificent fireworks display on the evening prior to Monaco's National Day on November 19. Port Hercule, July - August, 2006.

Legendary Historic Grand Prix & Monaco Grand Prix
The place is Monaco, and the event of the season in the Principality is without a doubt the Grand Prix Historique. Considered a must for the historic races it is a retrospective of the golden age of car racing. Taking place on the famous track of Monaco's roads the race has been held every other year since April 1929. Monaco, May 20-21, 2006.

Held in May the Monaco Grand Prix, since its inception in 1929, is the only F1 Race taking place on city streets. Spectators delight in the excitement of the roaring engines as they speed along the Boulevard Albert 1er up toward the Casino and dare the hairpin turn in front of the Fairmont Monte-Carlo Hotel. Well known for its many elevation shifts, tight corners and a narrow course make it perhaps the most demanding F1 track in the world. Monaco, May 25-28, 2006
